The Basics
We are a pick-up only farm for fresh eggs, vegetables, fruit, flowers and meat. However, we can ship preserves, vinegars, candles and soaps. Our hours vary with the school year, and will be posted on our newsletter. However, they will also be posted on our Contact Us page.
Our animals are all free-range, pasture-raised. We do not use steroids, hormones or antibiotics, unless an animal's life is in danger and all else has failed. We try to heal with as many natural remedies as we can.

Chicken Eggs
Keeping so many beautiful breeds of chicken means we get many beautiful eggs
from them. Each dozen is as colorful as it is delicious. All our birds are
free-range, meaning they glean most of their food from the land itself. The
result? Eggs that have a beautiful orange yolk, a firm white, and a gorgeous
shell. There is no substitute for a fresh farm-raised egg. Try them and
see!

Duck Eggs
We keep 8 heritage breeds of duck on our farm as well. They free-range right along side of the chickens, and produce gorgeous eggs as a result. Though their eggs are not as colorful (they are all white), they are just as wonderful. The yolks are that same orange color and the thickness of their whites cannot be beat. If you are looking for a egg whites to whip into a meringue, or an egg to bake with, duck eggs should be your choice.
Duck eggs are more seasonal than chicken eggs, with the largest number layed in the spring and summer.

Fruit, Vegetables and Herbs
Fruits, vegetables, herbs, you name it, we probably grow it. All of our produce is fed organically and tended completely by hand. All vegetables are started from seed right here on the farm. We grow mainly heirloom varieties as we like the flavors better. However, if a hybrid proves to be a good one, we will grow it as well! All our stock is from non-GMO seed providers and nurseries. Our garden is completely seasonal, so different things will be available at different times of the year.
****We no longer sell produce from the homestead directly, but will be attending farmer's markets instead. Details will be available in the newsletter and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/chickenscratchacres.

Soaps and Candles
Though we grow a lot of food to nourish the inside of your body, we do give thoughts to the outside, too! A while ago, our family switched from store-bought soap to handmade soaps, and we'll never go back. The difference in our skin is amazing! For that reason, we make our own soaps here, and we'd like to offer them to you. The selection will vary from one time to the next, colors will be different, scents will change, but no matter what they may look like or smell like, the soaps will be made with natural oils, butters, and lye. Nice and natural and REAL--the way soap should be.
We also pour a candle or two from time to time--just to scent the homestead a little. The candles are made from 100% soy wax, with a cotton wick.
